I have a 2003nissan pathfinder with 96k miles.I'm on a road trip and the car is being sluggish,if I really hit?

It it revs to 5rpms then drops quick.someone said it can b the catalytic converter.do u think my car will blow up? I have another300 miles till home.THANKS!
