Why do women say one thing but do another-Tootsie film?

In "Tootsie" the young blond girl says she wants a guy to say to her "...."(i forgot the line), but when Hoffman says the line to her as a male she throws a drink in his face? She wants a guy to say the line, but when they do she doesn't want the guy to??
